Tis a New Season [Part IV] – A New Year – A New Day…

Time, then, to take a look at what CHALLENGE #3 is!

It’s actually you.

Can you believe it?  Chances are, at some point (especially early on), your own self will start to betray your desire for change, and will challenge your ability to continue on your New & Improved Way.

This is because our mindset & emotions & thoughts can either work for us or against us!

So it’s very important for us to recognize & address it… To take action; and talk back to the negative voice within that keeps saying things like:

New Season New Year New Day New Way!

FOUR more TIPS for 2014:

1.) COMMIT to Consistency:  Content, Quality, and Timing of food all matter.  And poor content, quality, &/or timing will weaken our resistance and raise our vulnerability to this challenge.

2.) SLOW it down at the table:  Mindfulness in eating matters.

3.) PLAN pro-active [alternative] ways of relieving stress/emotions:  Feeling & Dealing matter.  Management techniques may include giving special attention to hobbies, physical activities/exercise, spiritual exercises, relaxation, positive interactions and support; plus seeking professional help when necessary.

4.) KEEP things in perspective:  It’s not the falling, but the rising again that matters!

So. therefore, in honor of our “Tis a New Season” celebration for a New Way in the New Year, let us turn to The LITTLE WAY… and the words St Thérèse, a voice of encouragement & love that should matter, as we learn to deal with this & all challenges along our own way:

How sweet is the way of Love!  True, one may fall, one may not be always faithful, but Love, knowing how to draw profit from all, very quickly consumes whatsoever may displease Jesus, leaving naught but humble and profound peace in the innermost soul.

How happy I am to see myself imperfect and be in need of God’s mercy.

I made the resolution never to consider whether the things commanded me appeared useful or not…. it is love alone that counts. Forget about whether something is needed or useful; see it (the demand, rule, obligation, etc.) as a whim of Jesus.

If I did not simply live from one moment to another, it would be impossible for me to be patient, but I only look at the present, I forget the past, and I take good care not to forestall the future.

You know that our Lord does not look at the greatness or difficulty of our action, but at the love with which you do it. What, then, have you to fear?

Prayer is a cry of gratitude and love, in the midst of trial as well as in joy.

The goal of all our undertakings should be not so much a task perfectly completed as the accomplishment of the will of God.

I can nourish myself on nothing but truth.

Dear St Thérèse of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, PRAY FOR US.

HAPPY NEW WAY!  2014! −EF 12/30/2013
